About Us

Our Past

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Alumnae chapter was chartered on October 23, 1982, following a rich history of SAI alumnae presence in the Twin Cities stretching back to at least 1937. Throughout our storied history, the sisters of this and preceding alumnae chapters have ardently contributed as mentors to collegiate members, leaders of musical performance and education, and benefactors of the development of music through service and support.

Our Present

Chapter Meetings

Our meetings are scheduled September through June of each year, hosted by members of the chapter (see the calendar to the right for more information). Meetings aren’t just for business! Each month, we welcome musical programs from our talented sisters, patronesses, and guests; fraternity education and sing-a-longs, and opportunities for friendship and fun.

Service Events

In addition to our support of SAI Philanthropies, our sisters regularly participate in chapter-sponsored service events, including a yearly community outreach musicale and
joint service activities with our collegiate chapters during Province Day. Sisters are encouraged to bring service event ideas to the chapter and share their individual volunteer activities.

Our Sisterhood

We welcome Sigma Alpha Iota alumnae and patroness members from all walks of life! While our chapter membership includes professional musicians and music educators, it also includes sisters who uphold the highest standards of music while working in non-music professions. We are encouraged by the array of talents that our sisters offer to our meetings, programs, activities, service events, and engagement in the musical life of the Twin Cities and beyond.
